PING Junior Golf Clubs

PING has a reputation for top-end golf clubs. Their clubs for juniors aged 6 to 14 years of age look and play just like those used by the golfing professionals they sponsor: Bubba Watson, Hunter Mahan and Mark Wilson.

The Ping junior golf club sets are a great starter set for kids getting into golf and particularly the competitive junior player. Whilst the sets are expensive, the difference Ping clubs can make to a game is significant at any age. Ping junior golf clubs reviews score highly as the clubs make it easy to get the ball airborne. The club heads and shafts are tuned specifically for the swing speed and strength of junior golfers and many report that they hit the ball 10-20 yards farther with these clubs. That’s something any golfer can appreciate, especially an aspiring youngster who struggles with distance.

Ping can customize clubs for length, lie, grip size, flex, and swing weight easily. You can save quite a bit of money if you go with the previous (or older) model line as these clubs are top-rated, plus they hold their value and are indestructible.

Four distinct junior sets are built for different ages and heights

Ping has produced Junior Golf clubs that are available in four specific sets for kids 42”-64” tall (ages 6-14). Each set includes a Ping logo carry bag and stand:

  • PING Junior Golf ClubsMoxie K is a 4 club set for beginners between 42”-47” tall (ages 6-7). The clubs are specially designed to produce fast results and build confidence.
  • Moxie G has 6 clubs for players between 48”-53” tall (ages 8-9). This golf set is for kids who might be beginners or have out-grown the Moxie K
  • Moxie i is a 7 club set for boys and girls between 54”-60” tall (ages 10-12) who still require the benefits of ultra-lightweight clubs.
  • Thrive has 10 clubs designed to fit boys and girls between 60”-64” tall (ages 13-14). These clubs bridge the gap between Ping’s Moxie Junior sets and their adult-sized clubs. This helps youth golfers to excel at the game and builds confidence.

Each set comes with a lightweight carry bag with stand. The Moxie sets come complete with a stylish unisex Ping logo bag in red and black. The Thrive set has a colorful blue and yellow lightweight carry bag (a shorter version of the adult Ping L8) that makes walking 18 holes easy. The bag has a great variety of compartments to store gloves, balls and tees and is double-strapped to avoid back strain.

How to play golf – tips

How old do children have to be to play golf?
It is suggested that children have the best golf “learning ability” at 6 years old. The key is to create a relaxing, fun atmosphere.
The starter set
It includes a driver, some mid-irons, fairway wood, a pitching and sand wedge, and a putter. We suggest however to initially look at a junior specific golf equipment manufacturers.
Keep it positive
Golf is difficult, and that can be the case even before you tee off. Avoid criticism, keep the directions simple and encourage them even if theirs shot was bad.
What to wear?
T-shirts are prohibited for both boys and girls. Boys wear collared shirts, tucked in. Khaki material bottoms are strongly urged. Girls should wear collared shirts or a button-up oxford with or without sleeves can work as well. Baseball-style hats or visors, for men and women, are the most popular on a golf course. There is unspoken etiquette that requires a player to wear socks that complement the clothing.
Boys may wear shorts. Madras, solids, plaids, stripes and seersucker are allowed. Girls may wear the same shorts as boys and skirts as well. Wind shirts are worn over proper tops and can be removed during play. Rain gear is any clothing worn over the clothes that is waterproof.
In general camouflage, denim and cargo pants or any form of such outerwear is not acceptable. Golf shoes with metal spikes are prohibited - all other spikes are acceptable. No flip-flops, no open-toe shoes and no sandals allowed.
It is always a good idea to check with course management about the club's dress code.
