Junior Golf Club Sets

To meet need, many of the major golf equipment companies make choosing golf clubs for juniors easier by offering pre-packaged junior golf sets for different age groups. For Junior and Youth Golf Club sets, there is no requirement for the child to be professionally fitted to each club in the set.

Callaway, Nike, Ping, Tour X, and Wilson are the top-brand golf manufacturers that have pre-boxed sets for girls and boys. Specialist junior golf brands include U.S. Kids Golf who stock 145 different golf club sets for juniors.

A junior golf club set will usually contain fewer clubs than an adult set. This is because it is swing speed that creates the distance gaps between clubs. Many young juniors, depending on their height and strength, have slow swing speeds so distance gaps are usually quite short. When a child can swing harder and create a distance gap longer than five yards between clubs, then more clubs can be bought to customise your set. Therefore, a junior golfer aged 10 years may have 12-14 clubs.

How to play golf – tips

How old do children have to be to play golf?
It is suggested that children have the best golf “learning ability” at 6 years old. The key is to create a relaxing, fun atmosphere.
The starter set
It includes a driver, some mid-irons, fairway wood, a pitching and sand wedge, and a putter. We suggest however to initially look at a junior specific golf equipment manufacturers.
Keep it positive
Golf is difficult, and that can be the case even before you tee off. Avoid criticism, keep the directions simple and encourage them even if theirs shot was bad.
What to wear?
T-shirts are prohibited for both boys and girls. Boys wear collared shirts, tucked in. Khaki material bottoms are strongly urged. Girls should wear collared shirts or a button-up oxford with or without sleeves can work as well. Baseball-style hats or visors, for men and women, are the most popular on a golf course. There is unspoken etiquette that requires a player to wear socks that complement the clothing.
Boys may wear shorts. Madras, solids, plaids, stripes and seersucker are allowed. Girls may wear the same shorts as boys and skirts as well. Wind shirts are worn over proper tops and can be removed during play. Rain gear is any clothing worn over the clothes that is waterproof.
In general camouflage, denim and cargo pants or any form of such outerwear is not acceptable. Golf shoes with metal spikes are prohibited - all other spikes are acceptable. No flip-flops, no open-toe shoes and no sandals allowed.
It is always a good idea to check with course management about the club's dress code.
